This is the first leg of our Surigao trip[March 23-24, 2013] at Mabua Pebble Beach
Our flight from Cebu was right on schedule and it arrived just a few minutes after 11am. Good job Cebu Pac! Planning for this trip was not that complicated and rigid. We just agreed to see each other at the airport on the day of our flight and said to ourselves we'll figure out everything once we're there. We were pretty complacent because there were four of us so we didn't book anything nor did we have a clear itinerary.
Go with the flow as they say!
Because we had a noontime flight, searching for a place to eat was the first thing that we did. Good thing Surigao Robinson's mall was just a stone's throw away from the airport and from our accommodation. So we choose this restaurant (I forgot the name) which did not look familiar. We wanted to try authentic Surigao-inspired food (whatever that is) but we didn't have a lot to choose from. So we just ordered some squid, fried rice, fish and a soup. Though it took several minutes before the food was served, it tasted alright.
It satisfied our famished tummies.
We then decided to find a place to stay for the night before heading to Socorro. Surigao's mode of transportation includes a multicab and tricycle. There were not much taxi cabs around. So we just rode the first tricycle we saw and asked if he is familiar with Le Chard Place. I read reviews about this place when I was doing some research on what to do and where to stay in Surigao. The great thing I remembered was that they said this place was new and affordable. Location was very favorable too. After only about 2 minutes of tricycle ride, we found their signage along the highway and we checked-in immediately. They gladly accommodated us in a room good for 3 that is just Php1,200. Quite a great deal already! But we didn't stay for long. As soon as we settled our bags, we were off to explore the city. Time should never be wasted doing nothing when you are travelling to a new place. We then asked the hotel's receptionist on how far Pebble beach is and how we can get there.
After about 20-30 of tricycle ride on a hot sunny afternoon..here we are at Pebble beach.
Well actually, the first tricycle brought us to a public beach and told us that we were in Pebble beach already. As we walked towards the shore, we noticed that the pebbles were not that remarkable. We said to ourselves: Oh..okay so this is what they call pebble beach. The place was packed with so many people since it was after all, a weekend. And like it was on cue, a man came selling ice cream! Weee! We each had our own flavor and we chatted with the ice cream man. That was when we realized that the tricycle driver who brought us to that place lied to us. The Mabua pebble beach that we were looking for was still a few kilometers away. You got us good manong driver! Tsk3x! So we moved on from that mishap with melting ice cream in our hands and we hopped on to another tricycle to get to Mabua. Finally.....this time...we are in the right place.
Thank goodness we found this little store or else we would've died of thirst. Haha!
It was definitely a very hot afternoon and we needed something cold to drink to quench our thirst.
Options were a bit limited, so rhum cola it is- Surigao style! Hehe!
The place was filled with pebbles alright.
Between this view and the cold glass in our hands, we talked of things...
things that mattered...things that didn't matter...
things that we are sure of..and those that we aren't sure of...
we dared to ask questions..
questions that yearned for answers we know nothing of....

answers that only time can unravel....
it was one of the best afternoons I've had in years!
Thank you dear friends!
Approximately just about 5 hours in our trip and we were already having a blast!
Can't wait for our activities tomorrow!!!!
What happens in Pebble beach stays in Pebble beach! haha!
